Methanol and water are mixed in a certain proportion, heated and vaporized, and superheated to a certain temperature and pressure. Under this condition, the mixed superheated gas passes through the catalyst, where the catalytic cracking reaction and carbon monoxide conversion reaction take place at the same time. Finally, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and residual small amount of carbon monoxide are produced. The desired purity of hydrogen is obtained through a PSA purification equipment. Similar to the ammonia decomposition hydrogen generation equipment, the transportation of methanol is more convenient and safer than the storage and transportation of hydrogen. In some hydrogen stations, using methanol cracking equipment to produce hydrogen or natural gas cracking to produce hydrogen is more economical and has been promoted both abroad and at home.
